IRA charitable contributions

If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a powerful impact on Project H.O.O.D. straight from your IRA—and you might even receive valuable tax benefits. Just ask your IRA administrator to use our sample letter to send your gift directly and help us keep building hope in our communities.

Stocks

When donating stock, you can use our stock transfer form or call Project H.O.O.D. at (773) 530-3945 to let us know about your gift. This helps us properly acknowledge your generosity and ensure you receive an accurate tax receipt for your records.

Charitable gift annuities

Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs) may be a great option if you’d like to support Project H.O.O.D. by transferring cash or securities while receiving guaranteed lifetime payments for yourself or someone you love.

Donor advised funds

You can support Project H.O.O.D. through your donor-advised fund by contacting your fund manager or logging in to your DAF platform and selecting Project H.O.O.D. as the organization you want to recommend a grant to.

Important Year-End Giving Dates and Deadlines

Check or credit card gifts sent through FedEx, UPS, or DHL must arrive by the close of business on December 31 to be counted for this tax year.
If you’re sending your gift through USPS, be sure it’s mailed and postmarked by December 31. We recommend checking your local post office hours to ensure it’s processed on time.
If you’re making a gift to Project H.O.O.D. from your IRA, ensure your financial institution mails and postmarks the check by December 31 for it to count toward this year’s tax benefits.
Processing times can vary, so check with your IRA provider—some may require the request to be submitted anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks in advance to complete the transaction before year-end.
To make sure your stock gift to Project H.O.O.D. counts for this tax year, your transfer must be completed and received in our LPL Financial account by the close of business (EST) on December 31.
We recommend contacting your broker early to confirm any internal cut-off times they may have. To avoid delays, start your stock transfer one to two weeks before December 31 whenever possible.
To ensure your Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) with Project H.O.O.D. qualifies for the current tax year, all required documents and funding—via cash or securities—must be completed and received by December 31.
Because processing times may vary, we recommend initiating your CGA at least two weeks before year-end to allow adequate time for paperwork and transfer completion.
